You’re an urban legend in a county full of them. When you were thirteen, you were found passed out in the road by one of the local cops. No missing persons report. No fingerprints on file. No memories. Just a name.
Oh, and some bizarre psychic powers.
You're content with simplicity. You like your isolated cabin and helping Carter track down missing persons. You know that in theory there are more people like you out there, but you've never wanted to look behind the curtain to find out.
However, with the disappearance of a local teen named Casey Powell and a recent attempt on your foster father's life, your serene, isolated life comes abruptly to its end and a new chapter begins.

The Second Sight is an urban fantasy story, where you step into the role of a psychic whose strange powers have always separated them from others. Those same powers will drag you down the rabbit hole and into a world that is both familiar and foreign to everything you know. A world filled with magic, witches, fae, demons, and the unknown.
You can immerse yourself in the story by customizing your protagonist's general appearance, choosing how they interact with others, and whether you lean on logic or intuition to problem solve. There are three love interests planned (more may be added depending on player reception and feedback), the genders of which will be selected by the player upon meeting them.
Characters
Jacob Carter
Age: Late forties
Race: Human. Definitely.
Gender: Male
Temperament: Carter radiates grizzled, old bastard energy and despite being the least paternal person in the world, he is your adoptive father. While harsh and aloof on the surface, he is also fiercely protective of you and has bent over backwards to give a decent life to a kid that isn't even his. He doesn't talk about his life before coming to Herman County and you haven't asked him, though that might change soon enough...

Renard/Rowan
Age: Appears to be in their late twenties or early thirties
Race: Human. Maybe.
Appearance: Tall and slender, pale ivory skin, white-blonde hair, and gold eyes.
Temperament: Playful and witty, talking to R always feels like a game of cat and mouse and you can never be sure which role is yours. Part sad clown, part trickster, and always maddening to work with, the only things you can be certain of with R is that they probably know what they're doing. Everything else is up in the air.

Zander/Zora
Age: Late twenties/Early thirties
Race: Human. Mostly.
Appearance: Muscular and athletic, umber brown skin, black locs, grey eyes
Temperament: Gentle and resolute, Z isn't what you imagine when you think of an agent of the mysterious Magic and Anomalies Bureau. Kind, soft-spoken, and exceedingly polite, Z is Carter's former apprentice and something about them puts the old man on edge.

Unknown aka "The Kestrel"
Age: ???
Race: Definitely not human.
Appearance: Tall, beautiful, elegant, with black hair and blue eyes.
Temperament: The Kestrel is a complete unknown. It's impossible to say whether they are a lethal ally or deadly enemy, but either way they are a powerful dreamwalker. You don't know how long they've been watching you, but you're willing to bet that it's been longer than you're comfortable with.

I have a theory! Ever since the Shadow King was introduced, it felt like the MC was connected to him somehow. After the most recent chapter, I have enough evidence to make a proper theory!
SPOILERS / POSSIBLY SOME INACCURATE INFORMATION
The theory is as follows: The Shadow King had a forbidden relationship with a Seelie, conceived the MC, and we were sent away for our own good. It would explain why we couldn't remember anything when Carter found us -- I speculate that the Shadow King did something to erase our memories. Also, this a bit of a stretch, but it would also explain why the king hasn't been to the court in 50 years. Perhaps, the last trial was the Seelie's, and, at the cost of her life, he denied any involvement with her. The king seemed wistful at the end of the recent chapter, possibly regretting his actions at the last trial. Another stretch, but perhaps the Kestrel was a childhood (we aren't given his exact age but I'm assuming he's around ours) friend. This one is much less plausible since I'm going off of one line in our first encounter with him. (something about how he looks familiar???)

during the interaction with the shadow king. i set my height as very tall, and this happened. i think it's in chapter 9
it said "Error: <<if>>: bad conditional expression in <<if>> clause: height is not defined"

I love (Especially Rowan) this so much that I can't stop thinking about it. However, I'm stuck and SPOILERS I SUPPOSE - with deciding what to trade to The Kestrel.
Trading a secret or trading a memory take immediate effect and dont have lasting consequences (in book 1 at least). Choosing a kiss isnt something thatll have an effect until later and it wont really effect your romance.
omgomgomg WHAT THE DPES THE SHADOW KING MEAN HUHHHHHHH and why didn’t I get my smooch from the kestrel >:(

Also in the next dialogue, when Carter is present, all the options are lacking symbols.

That update was awesome! Love the characters. And so many more questions now.
New to this, well, mostly new, but WOW. Speechless. The writing is fabulous. Also, I really love Carter as a father figure, because it’s so well written. It makes me nostalgic in a way, because my own father died when I was younger, and in a lot of ways Carter reminds me of him. So safe to say, I’m thoroughly impressed!
Also the Kestrel is just ✨👌✨ and even Zander and Rowan are beautifully written. Much appreciation to the author. (Also cause my finances are not so great at the moment, I’m kind of glad this novel is free, though when I can again, I’ll definitely be subscribing to the Patreon.)

It has nothing tl do with updates. Be careful using the in browser saves. Theyre saved to your local storage and if you delete your cookies or empty the cache or if your settings do it automatically those saves will disappear
To avoid this problem choose "save to disk" and your save file will save on your actual device

Glad I found this! Very interesting premise and I enjoyed the characters a lot -- but honestly: More than anything - I freakin Loved my MC. Don't know if it was intentional or not, but it felt like some Serious coding was put into just -- developing/tracking who they are, personality-wise, as you go. More than once, I was straight out lawl-ing at my sarcastic, baby Carter (almost wrote 'Cowboy Carter' XD) just being a witty butt who cares too much like her fah-ver.
Because I know no other way: It doesn't surprise me I ended up on the Z(ora) route. (Literally)Everything telling me NOT to be with this super stoic, obvious risk-for-me person? SIGN ME UP
Very much a slow burn given we're at chap 8 (and the end of the 1st book!), but I do hope for some kind of Big PUSH between MC/Z. I don't mind a realistic wait; but it felt like something significant was unlocked in Z in 8 that should give big returns in near future. (like that stoicism crumbling into itty bitty bits and Bold happening 👀) It's so hard to read Z and how they feel about MC (- want? shy? desperate? terrified?), everything hits so much Harder when it *does* show. Genuinely hope 9 gives us something juicy~ We've Earned it, haven't we, dear author? ;)
